A Lot Can Happen in a Year! ZOMM 2010 Wrap-up

It’s hard to believe that 2010 has come and gone! It seems like just yesterday we were sitting around my dining room table putting the idea of ZOMM on paper. I can’t help but feel so blessed by everything that has happened for us and ZOMM this year.

ZOMM Wireless Leash

Let’s recap:

January – Consumer Electronics Best of Innovations Award
After unveiling the ZOMM Wireless Leash at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, ZOMM was named “Best of Innovations.” We were thrilled to be honored with this award which has been won by companies like Samsung, Panasonic and Nokia in the past.

February – Impressing the media

We continued to feel the love from CES in February. We generated about 100 million media impressions that resulted in being featured on the Today Show and Martha Stewart!

March – ZOMM Rolling off Assembly Line

In just under a year, ZOMM went from idea to reality. Needless to say, seeing the first ZOMM Wireless Leash roll off the assembly line was an incredible feeling for all of us.

April – New Headquarters Opens

By April we were settled into our new headquarters in Tulsa—complete with my homemade zebra print conference table!

May – New York City Press Tour
In May we took to the sky and traveled to New York City for a press tour. We met with editors and producers throughout the city in order to spread the word of ZOMM. Due to the press tour, we saw coverage in several national publications, including Forbes, Laptop and Good Housekeeping.

June – Official ZOMM Launch

In June we officially launched ZOMM! We fulfilled all pre-orders from CES and began selling ZOMM directly from our website and through retail.

August – Parachuting with the Army Golden Knights

We were excited to be the Titanium sponsor for Openca.mp in Dallas. What was even more exciting was seeing John Pozadzides make the first-ever phone call during a parachute descent…on a ZOMM!

September – ZOMM National Television Commercial
With Cali Lewis as our spokesperson, we blazed a new trail with our first National Television Commercial. Appearing on FoxNews, Biography and G4 Channels, it was another way to spread the word of ZOMM far and wide.

October – New Website
After lots of hard work and many tweaks, we rolled out the new design of our website. The new, sleek design shows off the features of ZOMM and incorporates video right onto the site! We also updated our online store, making it more user-friendly.

November – Firmware Upgrade
You talked and we listened. We took your feedback about ZOMM and made changes. Then we announced the free firmware upgrade and MyZOMM software. The upgrade included the option to turn the ZOMM ringer off as well as the ability to set the distance of the alarm.

December – Worldwide Expansion
Less than a year from our launch, ZOMM is going global. We know Americans aren’t the only people who lose their phones. So by expanding distribution to Europe, we hope to help our forgetful friends in other countries as well.

2010 has been a wild ride! We’re looking forward to 2011 as another opportunity to grow with new features, products and offices around the globe. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in our success this year! Here’s to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011!

MSNBC Features ZOMM

Ready, set, road trip!
10 accessories to keep your summer trip rolling

The Fourth of July fireworks are over and Labor Day will be here before you know it. And since no one knows what the economy’s going to do, you might as well pack up the gang and hit the road.

The 10 accessories below can help keep you on track and, perhaps, provide a little fun along the way.

Remember Gray Powell, the Apple employee who accidentally left that prototype iPhone 4G in a bar a few months ago? Too bad he didn’t have a Zomm ($80). Essentially a Wireless Leash™, the Oreo-sized, Bluetooth-based unit beeps, flashes and vibrates anytime you and your phone get more than 30 feet apart. It also works as a speakerphone and panic button — and will surprise the heck out of the most brazen pickpocket.

Los Angeles Times Features ZOMM

Travel gear: Wireless leash keeps your cellphone from wandering

Worried about losing your cell phone? For $79.99, you can buy some peace of mind.

ZOMM is a wireless “leash,” alarm and speakerphone that uses Bluetooth technology to pair with a cellphone. When ZOMM and your cellphone are separated by 30 feet or more, ZOMM vibrates, then its lights flash and finally its alarm sounds. It sounds like something that Apple should hand out to employees, given how often iPhone prototypes show up in the wrong hands. (Yes, it works with iPhones.)

The device also has a built-in panic feature to activate for help, which I find comforting as a solo traveler. If you keep depressing the panic button, it will make your cell phone dial 9-1-1 or another emergency number that you specify. ZOMM is designed to pair with any Bluetooth phone.
